Jim Young is leaving the Mission and Community Service Board to take over the position of Council President. We will miss him and wish him well in this new chapter of service he has undertaken at St. Paul UCC.
The Mission and Community Service Board December meeting was held in the form of a Christmas Get Together at the home of Jim and Donna Young. Our thanks to a wonderful host and hostess, as well as good food and fellowship in their beautiful home.
***********************************FOOD PANTRY NEWS OF THE MONTH****************************************
The families served by the Interfaith Food Pantry continues to increase. Jerry Messick reports that at the present time, the most needed food items are: Oatmeal, Jelly, Peanut Butter, Macaroni and Cheese, Hamburger Helper, Canned Meat, Cereal, Applesauce, Canned Fruit, Soup, and Canned Vegetables. (Please no corn or green beans - Jerry says they have an abundance of those items.)
On Saturday, December 17, 2011, the Mission Board and Franklin Neighborhood volunteers will be distributing hams to approximately 70 needy families for Christmas.
Our Mission 1 Canned Food Collection concluded on 11/11/11 and we met our goal of collecting 1111 items. Thanks to all who contributed!
We need volunteers to assist Jerry at the Food Pantry. Jerry basically does all the work himself and relies on volunteer assistance to give him some relief. Anyone who has a few hours to spend helping out at the Food Pantry are encouraged to call Jerry.
