MORE LIGHT LEADERSHIP TEAM UPDATE
The More Light Design Series
How do we get to be the people we are? by Dr. Mary Mayo, St. Paul member. Sept. 7, 2008 The video requires the Microsoft Media Player. Most browsers will stream the file after a short period of buffering, IE7, Google Chrome, Safari (for Windows) and Opera were tested. A notable exception is Firefox3, it will download the complete video (60 MBytes) to your computer before it starts to play. This could take some time depending on your connection speed.
Healthy Relationships/Healthy Congregations by Rev. Dale R. Kuhn, LCSW Executive Director, Care and Counseling. Sept. 14, 2008. Unfortunately the electricity went off Sunday morning, courtesy of the remnants of Hurricane Ike so there is no video available. Instead the link is for the handout Rev. Kuhn used in his talk. It is in portable document format.
The Bible On Sexuality and The Famous 7 Passages by Dr. Steve Patterson, Professor of New Testament at Eden Theological Seminary, Webster Groves, MO. The video is a 61.5 Windows Media file.
A series of 4 sermons were given by Pastor Drew during the month of September. These sermons deal with the issue of St. Paul becoming an Open and Affirming church and the September 28th sermon includes his recommendation on this matter. All of these sermons are an important part of the More Light Design Series. All of the files below are Windows Media files and will stream in most browsers.
These videos are for Broad Band users, they are typically large files. Picture size is 320x240 pixels. The sermons in portable document format are text only files that are read with the Adobe Reader, a free program.

A Statement for Congregation Consideration
The More Light Leadership Team has been meeting regularly since January 2008. This committee was formed to address issues involving full participation in the membership of St. Paul UCC, including the possibility of becoming “Open and Affirming.” We have had open and searching discussions regarding how St. Paul currently interacts with the wider community, and how it may embrace the community within and without in the future. Most recently we have asked ourselves how the UCC motto, “No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here,” applies to St. Paul. The following statement is a work in progress. We present it to you now for your consideration. The members of the team would like to hear your comments, questions, suggestions, and concerns.
No matter who you are No matter where you are on life’s journey You’re welcome at St. Paul.
We recognize that while we may differ from one another
In physical or mental ability In giftedness or talent In race, sexual orientation, or station in life,
We are Children of God and are precious in God’s sight.
We intentionally include diversity of persons and opinions. We will listen respectfully to one another as we strive to remove the barriers of hate and prejudice by displacing fear with the light of love. We welcome full participation in the work and blessings of the church. We will help each other to become whole persons in faith as we strive to become a community of faith and love in the image of Jesus Christ.
